I have held many roles throughout my career, but my primary focus~ whether guiding mindful movement, wellness consultation, grief counseling, actively being a member of community, or circle keeping, has remained the same. Our work, and I use our here to pay homage to the ancestors who have done this work before me, those who do this work with me, and those who will continue this work, is helping work. Helping protect and provide the spaces in which we can connect back with our truest, wisest Selves and heal. That work starts with me allowing and cultivating that space to exist in abundance inside of myself in such a way that it continues to inspire and release like spaces by way of relationship. I am currently calling into being new sustainable and generative ways to get more unrestricted financial support to our community holders and helpers and into the hands of those who are ready to be well in a context that supports self-determined exploration of what that could look like. I am formally trained as a psychotherapist (Holistic, Humanistic, and Body-Based/Experiential in practice) and so I have used my private practice (open for the past 13 years), and the relationships it has afforded me, as a way of providing a balance of support and accountability (the keys to liberation) with those who I have the honor of sharing space with. Ultimately in our co-created space we use breath, non-judgmental awareness, movement, relationships and experiences to address internalized anti-Blackness, allowing for the rehumanization of our experience, wholly, in all the ways we exist. My therapeutic approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a variety of evidence-based techniques and tailor my approach to each person's unique needs. I prioritize creating a warm and supportive environment for my guests. (Photo by Stephanie Belnavis of The Diahann Project)
